Welcome to my practice!

My first love is my family, but my second love has been working one-on-one with individual students! I have been in private practice as an educational therapist for over ten years, and it has been my favorite job yet! I really enjoy the interpersonal relationships that I get to develop with my students and their families and have seen first-hand the powerful impact that individualized instruction can have. It has been an exciting time for research in the area of learning disabilities and attentional issues, and I love the challenge of translating research into instructional interventions that work for individual learners. The brain's neuroplasticity allows it to develop more effective pathways for functioning and learning when such interventions are used.
Before becoming an educational therapist, I worked as a general education teacher in primarily upper elementary in both public and private settings. By the time I had completed my PhD at USC in 2008, my son had been diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD and was just starting second grade. While at USC I had focused my studies on reading within the study of curriculum and instruction, but at that point began learning as much as I could about learning disabilities and other learning challenges. I found that educational therapy was an excellent fit for both my professional knowledge and personal experience, and I have never looked back...
